This is one of neck stretching exercise. This exercise is most useful for those who work on a computer.
There are few variations of this exercise. The main muscles stretched in this exercise are Upper fibres of Trapezius, Scalenes, Levator Scapulae.
Type 1
- Look straight without dropping your chin.
- Move your ear towards the shoulder without raising other shoulder.
- Hold on for 10-30 seconds.
- Repeat for other side in same fashion
- Do 5 -8 reps on each side.
You can use your hand to pull the head to put more strain on the muscles but do it with caution
Type 2
Weighted Lateral Neck Flexion
To do this exercise you need to lie side ways on the free standing flat bench with knees bent with arms hanging from the edge of the table. Place soft towel under the weight and hold it on the side of you head with the upper hand. Place the other hand on floor for support. Now move your head up laterally with weight and lower it to the other side slowly. Jerking or fast motion should be avoided. Now turn to other side and continue.
